Paragraph on 'Science - A Blessing or A Curse'

Paragraph on Science - A Blessing or A Curse

Science is the sinew of modern civilization. It has worked in every branch of our life. The gifts of science have made our life easy and comfortable. What was once impossible is now very much possible. In a minute we can contact a friend in far off America. We have reached the moon. Science has conquered disease, time and distance. It has given us tremendous power. And sadly, with this power in hand, man is killing man. Deadly weapons are threatening life. Pollutions have endangered life. Machines have made life mechanical. And mechanical life is sure to lose peace. So the lovers of peace call science a curse. But we should question man's motives, not science. A knife can cut fruits. It can also cut throats. Intention - good or bad - is the last word.

Science has made great progress in our age. It has made our life easy. Mother needs not labour hard in her kitchen to cook food for the family. She can keep the food in the fridge. Science has given us means of education and enjoyment -TV, video, radio, etc. Many fell diseases are now curable. Science has given eyes to the blind, legs to the lame and ears to the deaf. Computer has brought speed and correctness in our work. Science has, of course, worked as a c├╣rse in some cases. It has given us tremendous power. And sadly, with this power in hand, man is killing man. People have produced powerful weapons. Lakhs of people were killed in Japan by two atom bombs. Everyday hundreds of men fall to bullets and meet with car accidents throughout the world. Pollutions have endangered life. Science has no doubt, given us prosperity. But it has taken away peace. Science has taken our soul in our mad race for material success. So the lovers of peace call science a curse. But we should question man's motives, not science. A knife can cut fruits. It can also cut throats. Intention - good or bad - is the last word.
